Melanie is a counsellor who specializes in climate anxiety work with adults and teens, 2SLGBTQ+ support, and interpersonal relationship issues such as non-monogamy, open marriages, BDSM/kink, and intimate partner abuse.
Her approach draws from a variety of psychotherapy traditions including person-centered therapy, psychodynamics, and existentialism, and is trauma-informed. She believes effective therapy must be built on a strong relationship of trust and collaboration between client and therapist.
Melanie is a pre-certified counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). She holds a Master of Counselling degree from City University of Seattle (Victoria Campus) and has completed additional training in sexual health therapy through the Allura Therapy Centre in Vancouver BC and in effective Indigenous allyship through the Indigenous Corporate Training Institute.
She is a long-time resident of Vancouver Island, an autistic lesbian single mom of three kids, and is currently training a bearded collie puppy to be a therapy dog.
