Melanie Armstrong Counselling provides therapy services in Victoria BC specializing in ethical non-monogamy, polyamory, autism, ADHD, queer support, and kink. Services include counselling sessions for individuals, couples, and polycules, and climate anxiety support groups. She sees clients in-person in Colwood on the Westshore, and offers video sessions for clients in BC and most provinces and territories in Canada.
Her approach draws from a variety of psychotherapy traditions including person-centered therapy, psychodynamics, and existentialism, and is trauma-informed. She believes effective therapy must be built on a strong relationship of trust and collaboration between client and therapist.
Melanie is a registered clinical counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and a certified clinical counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). She holds a Master of Counselling degree from City University of Seattle (Victoria Campus) and has completed additional training in sexual health therapy through the Allura Therapy Centre in Vancouver BC and in effective Indigenous allyship through the Indigenous Corporate Training Institute.
She is a long-time resident of Vancouver Island, an autistic lesbian single mom of three kids, and is currently training a bearded collie puppy to be a therapy dog.
